Friday March 7 2008 - 3 MONTHS ALREADY?
Dane is 3 months old now. He's seriously growing way to fast. I took him this week to be weighed and he is 13.5 lbs and 25.5 inches long. Here's a few things about him right now:
- He cluster eats through the day but at night will do a 6 hour stretch in a row (has been known to even go 10 hours before). Somehow he just knows it's nighttime and will eat and immediately go back to sleep. Or perhaps he knows that his mommy really really feels good with more sleep! My girls weren't this good of sleepers at this age. (Frankly, it's not even been until lately that they all stay asleep together in their big bed...and that's if we're lucky!). Hopefully his sleeping habits continue.
-During the day, he eats and then I have to walk with him (usually about 15 min) until he falls asleep. I then have to very carefully and slowly lay him in his bassinet by our bed if I want him to sleep in there (cause he's quite used to being held and will wake immediately if he senses he's not in our arms). So day times are hard to get things done. Oh well.
-He doesn't quite seem to LOVE the stroller yet like I'd like him to...but we've only been out in it 3 times so far. We've gone to pick up Mya at school and he has cried each time (almost 1/2 way there) before realizing he should just fall asleep and the ride will go much faster! Here's some shots of him in his little snow suit. Part of the problem is that I could be dressing him too warm (with blankets heaped on top too)........
but I'd rather him too warm than cold. The wind here seems to go right through you when it's cold. We are so ready for some warmer weather!!!!!
He is now rolling to his side and can almost go right round onto his tummy. He tries so hard he turns red.
-Which is strange that he tries so hard cause he's not such a big fan of tummy time.
- Dane likes to sit in his bumbo(??) chair and watch me do dishes.
- Is really strong and in his car seat will do crunches in attempts to get out.
- Thinks his sisters are silly. Lights up with a big grin even when they just walk by him. (may also be grinning thinking "phewf! She didn't try to pick me up and carry me again"). These girls have to be reminded that he is a little baby and not a doll.
- Is kinda drooly and spitty! We change clothes often (and that's not cause he likes to dress up), and with all that drool, he's quite enjoying making noises blowing bubbles!
- Will talk to ANYONE and EVERYONE who will pay any attention to him. Loves to be looked at and talked to. Seriously LOVES it!
- Enjoys his little feet rubs! I love his toes! (Can't wait to maybe start a Massage class next week with him!).
- Lets out a desperate little cry when he's really hungry. No messing around! When he wants to eat, you know it!
- Has the most contagious giggle ever! Here's a clip which is the tail end of a major giggle session. It was so funny that by the time we stopped laughing ourselves and reached for the camera, his poor tummy was so tired from laughing! I had coughed and that's what started it all. Kendall would make a sound and he'd crack up again. So here I am pretending to sneeze and he was just laughing till it hurt....until of course we pulled the camera out and then he settled down a little. Getting him to laugh is our favorite thing though!
Is cutting a little bottom tooth. Still hasn't broken through yet but it's coming!
- Loves to suck on things but won't consistently use his soother (it's more of a toy/distraction right now). Will usually suck and chomp on his first 2 fingers.
- Will hold objects if you make him. :)
We just love him so much and can't believe how fast time is flying by!
The rest of the crew is doing well.
- Earlier this week, Ava made her second appearance to Emerg. to set her SECOND set of stitches...in....her chin AGAIN. Different cut than the last one she got. It hadn't even been a full month and she's back in stitches again. She's totally confused how it could have happened. She slipped off the stage at play practice and bumped her chin on the way down. This cut was a lot deeper, totally to the bone, and longer....but she's doing well. Poor girl.... a little too much like her mom I'm afraid! She performs her play next weekend already.....and this time we're hoping she doesn't "break a leg".
- Mya finally attended her cousin Abby's..... "friend party" today. That has been the talk of the house this past week. She's reminded her sisters several times that "only I am invited to this party". She had a great time. Another exciting thing for Mya is her excitement for reading this past week. It's like it's clicked. Mya likes reading.....when SHE chooses to read....not me! So this week she's done it on her own, without my coaching...and she surprised herself with how fun it can be. Biggest word she sounded out all on her own this week was "animals". It's coming and we're excited to see her loving it more!
-Brooklyn continues to do well with potty training. She continues to sneak her hand in the fish bowl any chance she can get and lately has coined the phrase "not fair". She also managed to claw her cousin Sam's face this week, actually drawing blood this time. That was not a good day. Sorry Sam. So, hopefully next week will look a little brighter for this 2 year old...and be a little more "fair"!!!!!
