July 1 2008 - CaNaDa DaY

We've had a fun week. Kendall was gone for 4 days (that was not FUN) and we were on our own. But luckily our neighbor has one of these lovely contraptions and let us join in one day.
Today is CANADA's Birthday!!!! Such a fun day here....and it all began with the parade in Raymond. Thanks Dennis and Leisel for letting our girls bud in front of you so they could get some candy. Great to see you all there!!!Thanks Taylie and everyone else for helping Brooklyn gather some loot. She wasn't nearly as aggressive as I thought she'd be. Shocking! Luckily her big sisters were looking out for her too!The day started out pretty rainy and we almost didn't even go. By the time the parade began, I was kicking myself for not bringing the sunscreen! Great turn out I thought. It was about 40 minutes long.
Then we came home in time to rest and gear up for an evening of fun down at the park. Kendall and Mya stood in line FOREVER for this nasty treat. Yuck. Oh to be little again and like that kind of stuff. It was so humid tonight that the cotton candy was actually dripping. I STILL feel all sticky just thinking about it. What a mess.
Dane LOVED the carriage ride we got (that or he was happy I finally let him out of the sling?? I had hoped he'd just sleep the entire time cause he'd had such a busy day without his regular nap...but there was too much going on)
Brooklyn had a total blast in this little petting zoo with lambs, a llama, a huge potbelly pig, some miniature horses and goats etc. We probably spent at least 45 minutes here.
an into Tanis and John and their kids while we were down there. I had to post this shot cause I just LOVE Sam's expression. These two have lots of fun together and just light up when they see each other. Wish I had Brookies expression here too....but no doubt it somewhat mirror's Sams. I can just hear her yelling his name too...."Dam...Hi Dam". If only some of his courage on the astro jumps would have rubbed off onto Brookie. Too many people on them for her to feel comfortable!
This was taken moments before she broke out in tears. Clearly too much to handle for this little one still!
Ava and Mya had a great time. They went on all 3 astro jumps. No doubt they'll drop easy tonight. They had so much fun with friends and cousins and our sweet neighbors!!!! Great entertainment tonight too. Sneak peak into the songs sung at the Theatre this summer. Amazing dances from the Natives here in town and a band that we left too early to hear but I'm sure they were good too! Just a really great way to spend Canada's bday. And as if that wasn't enough....we brought Brooklyn and Dane home to put them to bed and Kendall and Ava and Mya headed back out to watch the fireworks. Here's the view I got as I sat on our front porch. Not too bad. No doubt not AS good as being down at the park but good to know that we can still enjoy an alright show. My camera's memory was almost full so these are the only two shots I could get before I was out of room (and sadly I missed the finale!!)
Kendall set up the tent when he got home yesterday and since it rained over night, no one slept in it last night. But tonight, Kendall, Ava and Mya are in there as we speak (or rather type). Kendall took the laptop out and they are watching Enchanted! Wish I was out there too... but Brooklyn has been asleep since 9pm and we all know better than to wake her early from her slumber. Maybe tomorrow we'll plan better and all camp out together.....only perhaps we should aim a little larger, than camping in our backyard! Oh, and congrats to Heather for entering Chad and also Lorin....since you both entered my little blog give away...I'll be sending you both somnething a little special!!! (do you like hubba bubba bubble gum cause we got a few of those today!). jokes. I'll surprise ya!
