June 22 2008 - Our Mya Dee is 6
(we lifted our blog from being private so that some of our family who can't access it anymore could still watch the montage of Mya for a day or so).
Can't believe where the past 6 years went. It doesn't seem that long ago that we patiently waited her arrival and went through the bit of a roller coaster while she was in the NICU. I remember the thoughts I had through that whole experience and I wish I knew then what I know now. I worried so much about her development and growth. She was a strong little girl right from the start! You wouldn't even know today.... of the little hurdles she had for those first 3 weeks. We love Mya so much. She brightens our home! She has such a spunky little personality and loves to be funny. She has loved her first year of Kindergarten and has learned so much. She has her own special taste in what she likes to wear and a strong little will when she sets her mind to something. She LOVES...and I mean LOVES....to do any sort of coloring, drawing, or crafts and we'll often find these precious notes and pictures scattered around the house in places for us to find. It totally brightens our day. She enjoys riding her bike but still loves anything girly!!!! She is a big helper around the house and lately likes to surprise us with cleaning and ultra organizing things (even if her friends are over playing!!!). She loves to surprise others. She's a wonderful sister and helps out with Dane a lot too (even lately with her one arm!!!). We love her so much. She is our favorite MYA DEE!!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday Dolly!
So we just had a family party tonight. Thanks Meg and Shane and fam and Tan and John and fam!!! You guys were so great to come. We had a BBQ and enjoyed each others company (and my cousin Tyler too!!!). These pictures are all backwards!!!
I think Abby was trying to get Sam to stop blowing out the candles here. Too funny!!!!
Great day here. No crazy wind so that was perfect for a BBQ and eating outside!
When I went to get Brookie ready for bed....I took off her dress and her poor underwear was full of sand. I wouldn't say Kendall "hates" the sandbox cause that's a bad word in our family...but his feelings towards that sandbox is the next closest thing. There's probably more sand in the surrounding grass (packed way down) than there should be!!!! We usually shovel it back into the sandbox when playtime is over.
We got Mya a bike this year but of course I didn't get a picture of that. She rode it around briefly in the garage while Kendall was gone tonight. It's a tiny bit big so here's hoping we don't put her in a cast again over it.
Yesterday was the year end Soccer tourney! Wow. Crazy. Tons of teams. They played 3 games down at the Lion's Park. Here are a few shots from the day. It was HOT and the fields were way bigger there than what they have sectioned off at the elementary school so these poor kids were exhausted after. By the last game they shortened the field for their sakes. Ava looked like a little lobster by the end of it but she had lots of fun!
Here's a shot of Brookie last night. It was 9 pm - ish. Past bedtime but way too nice. I think I'm in trouble come summer when I can't use the excuse "we have school in the morning"anymore! Really though, I can't wait for school to be out!
Here's our little guy's new trick!!!
You can barely see Ava out on the field in the background in this pic. She's the one in the blue shorts closest to Brookie.
Happy to be outside, squealing away! Clearly he was cheering for Ava!
Pretty good looking hey? (and Dane's not too shabby either!!!) ha ha. Nice shot of the side of Kendall's head at least!
