Thursday October 18 2007 - ODE TO LITTLE GIRLS
This is a tribute to "little girls" (something our home knows a lot about). It's a cool day here so I drove Kendall to work and laughed out loud the entire ride home. Our girls have watched High School Musical and have watched it several times, and we have 3 of those songs burned onto a CD which we listen to here and there in the van. We knew that Ava and Mya could sing the words, but this morning, as we were taking Kendall to work, we hear Brooklyn (in her little pixie voice) sing "soaring.....flying.....breaking free....". I look over at Kendall and he's just got a little smirk on his face and slightly shaking his head. Oh boy, another little girl belting out the words to that song. What could be better than that. Here's a shot I took of my bathroom when I got home.
As I was doing my hair and saw the reflection of our tub, I couldn't help but snag a shot. This is OUR master bathroom (as in Kendall and I), but we often let the girls have a bath in it cause it's larger and more fun. The thought crossed my mind, "Lucky Kendall, gets to wake up to miniature princesses decorating his bathroom each morning". Any one feeling sorry for him? Don't. I think it's awesome!
In case you couldn't see, this is what usually lines the bathtub and often even ends up on the floor by the toilet so we can step on them each morning! Nothing like stepping on snowwhite to wake you up in the morning!!! Ouch.
Which reminds me, last week Mya and Brookie were bathing and playing with their princesses. Mya has 2 favorites and Brookie doesn't seem to care which ones she has except if it looks like Mya wants a particular one, then she'll try to take it away from her. So I had to break up little arguments a couple times, telling them to share, bla bla bla....and finally, out of exhaustion, I said "Look, if you can't share those princesses, I'm just going to have to.....(pause...now think of something fast....what could I do....)...I'll just have to flush them down the toilet here." I thought that was a good ultimatum (what a mean mom I am right!). Well, Mya thought about it for a while and then pipes up "Uh mom, then dad would have to unplug the toilet. I don't think he'd want that. Remember, we can only put....pee/poo/toilet paper down toilets.......oh and bugs. We are allowed to put bugs down there too". (sorry for being so graphic but I thought it was cute.).
And this shot I took a while ago, but it just pretty much sums up playtime around here. Mya used to do this to our fridge all the time, and now Brookie has learned. No doubt about it, this is a girls home!!!! I could have taken a picture of the playroom down stairs but frankly that's just too scary, even for me right now!!!!
And I don't have a picture of it, but I think Kendalls all time favorite thing about a house full of girls, is finding hair elastics and bobby pins all over the house. I don't seem to mind it as much. I actually prefer a couple in each room, just for those times you need to throw it back quick.
So even though we still aren't sure what this new baby of ours is going to be....I'm feeling particularly "girly" today!!!! Unfortunately I have no mothers instinct to know what I've been carrying along these past 8 months...some days I think a boy...and then days like today, I think, another girl would be just right!!!!
Seriously though, I really don't feel bad for Kendall being a little out numbered around here, cause if you saw the way these girls melt when he comes home or we go to his school, how their eyes literally light up when they see him, it's me who one should be feeling sorry for. He is by far the fun one around here, tells the best bedtime stories and can swing and toss them around in ways I will never be able to do. He's the best dad ever and I think us girls are pretty darn lucky!!!
