Tuesday February 26 2008 - ONE YEAR OLDER AND WISER TOO!
Well, Kendall had a bday yesterday. We had a fun little family bday for him and even invited our sisters and their hubbies over for dessert. Here's a few shots. Thanks Tanis and John and Megan and Shane for coming and for your sweet gifts. Kendall is so spoiled!
Here's Kendall and opening his gifts from the kiddies.
I love this shot of Mya.....she was so super sneaky with this picture frame. She kept coming to me and asking for "a picture of dad fishing", then "I need an old frame"....then "green paint".... all trying to be sneaky and get it wrapped for him. She LOVES to give presents and we love to receive them from her!
Thought I'd post these shots of Dane. He is ultra spoiled...loves to be carried. I actually am lucky and have a couple different slings he gets carried around in. I love his expression in this shot even though its kinda blurry.
Why didn't I have this with my other kids? Having free hands while still being able to feed into his love for being held is so much easier this way. I have a Hot Sling one and this one he's in right now is actually my sisters and it's a Cuddliewrap. ??? It's just a long piece of material and I'm having fun trying out new positions with him in it.
I think he's spoiled but I know I am too!!
So, for anyone out there who has our mom/grandma's cook book.....I made her recipe for Strawberry Angel Delight. One of Kendalls many favorites in that book. We were actually invited to friends house on Sunday after church and was asked to bring dessert, so I thought, I'd kill two birds with one stone and double the recipe....that way I'd have a yummy dessert on Sunday and then not have to do it all again on Monday for Kendalls bday. Anyway, Kendall has kindly pointed out that "large pan" does not mean a 9x13. So basically I doubled a recipe that already made two 9x13 sized pans. So that's like 4 pans! Anyway, even with Tanis and John and family and Meg and Shane and family and OUR family, we barely polished off the left overs from Sunday which left this untouched.
After going through everyone I know in this town (which isn't a huge list) I finally took it to the school to pawn it off on them. Thankfully they took it. Could you imagine how sad that would have been if they hadn't. Kendall suggested that I just give it to Mr. Burettor? I sat there thinking.....Burettor? I don't know who that is? Is he in our ward.....to which he smiled and kindly said "Mr. Garburettor".
Our family has ate so much that I think I've turned him off this dessert so I'd better not make it until next year! So anyone that has never made that recipe before....no need to double it! A large pan really does mean a large pan. I'll do better to read more clearly next time instead of scanning over it.
And, no picture, but Brooklauden has struck again. Luckily our fish appears to be recovering. Kendall caught her up on the counter with her hands in the fish bowl. He got her down and put the chair back and went to change Dane's diaper. When he returned.....he saw the chair back there, but no Brooklyn, and at closer look at the fish bowl....no fish. He scanned the kitchen for signs of it....and finally noticed it flinching stuck in the fish net. What a stinker. Poor thing was suffering like that for at least a couple minutes.
I've got to start thinking like her if I'm ever going to keep up with the messes she creates! She'll grow out of it....RIGHT?
