Thursday November 30th 2006 - We can't wait....
I am blown away, (sick about it actually) that tomorrow is already December 1st. Where did November go? It's days like today when I wish I could just hit pause or rewind. So this afternoon I was able to finish getting our little advent calander done. It's sort of evolved over the years. (would you believe I actually hung a poster of toilet paper rolls on my wall, and then covered each {cut in half roll} with tissue paper and they'd poke through to get their note and prize for the day). It's things like this that I shake my head at...but don't want to totally forget cause it's kinda fun to remember those "good 'ol days". So now it's soup can's... who knows what it will be in 5 years.
I fill each day with a simple note, usually something the girls have to do that day (ie. an act of kindess, color a Christmas picture etc. etc.). It's usually something simple and then there's sometimes a treat or fun little gift like new hair elastics (Kendall will be so happy about more "baubbles" lying around!!!) or an eraser or whatever I can find that's cheap. A couple times I throw in a clue to do a treasure hunt where they can find something that's a little bigger than a "campbell soup can size" (like their own mini box of cereal for breakfast one morning). It's our fun little tradition and the girls get all excited about who's turn it is to "poke".
I should really run and get some things done. Girls are in bed, Kendall's at parent teacher interviews tonight, and me... well, I have a sticky floor to deal with. Quite exciting around here!
Though, this is good for a laugh.. we've actually had to "practice" wearing a hat with Brooklyn this year. She's gotten really good at it but a few months ago (heck, even this summer) she's never kept anything on her head. So, as a result of lots of clapping and chearing when she'd put on her hat, she did this tonight and then wait for her praise.......
What a silly love bug! I should really post more pictures of my other girls. I just realized that lately I've posted lots of Brooklyn. Good thing they don't look at this blog or I might be accused of playing favorites.
All 3 are truly my greatest treasures in life...my little gems!
