Wednesday April 25 2007 - It's Late....
Well, what else should one do when you are up waiting for bread to cook in the oven before being able to go to bed. I figured I've put it off long enough, it's about time I bore you all with another post. But what to write about...and what pictures should I include this time? Like most things lately, my attitude is scrap it. Keep it simple. Like cleaning for instance....keep it simple... simply don't do it cause it will just be a mess again tomorrow. Jokes (unless you've seen my house lately!). So, there will be no pictures tonight, no cool little talks my children have given lately, no little flashing counter in the corner... and no thoughtful writings from my empty head...just a lot of "bla." (maybe that's where the term "blog" came from).
Nothing like having children to keep you humble. Here is the converstaion I had with my 4 year old a couple days ago. We were discussing the "cool church" she attended down south this weekend as we attended one of our cool nephew's mission homecoming. She had a lot to say about the pretty colors (of paint, chairs, and carpet etc) in the church and how it was different than ours. She then went on to talk about her class and what she learned. At some point during Sharing time maybe, she sat on the lap of my cousin Ginny (who was actually my oldest daughter Ava's teacher that day). So Mya starts telling me that she sat on my cousins lap and how much she liked her and how pretty she was. Then she said...."oh, I get it... you are cousins, like.... you are like... related to her like a cousin is" (she's definately a little blonde already....like...like...like...) And I said yes and we talked for a brief second on how cousins are related. Then she says....so, if she's your cousin, she must be your best friend. I thought that was cute...and I said, yes, we are good friends...but we live so far away now it's hard to get to see eachother very often. She says...too bad for you...cause Ginny is like your best friend...and you don't have any other friends right mom! I sort of tried to correct her but she was on a role and wouldnt' let me interupt.... " and since you don't have any friends, you really want to visit Ginny right?". And she went on and on...totally thinking she's being all sweet and thoughtful telling me that whenever I want to, we can go that other church so I can have my friend. I told her that mommy does have other friends...to which she replied " but only your other friends are me and Ava and Brookie and Daddy". Nice!!
Like the time Ava was just learning to say prayers and prayed..."please bless that mommy won't wake up in the morning". Lovely. (I'm glad all prayers aren't answered exactly as we hope sometimes).
Or Brooklyn who has begun to raise her hand to things you ask her and say "me". Today we were playing around with her and I said "who loves mom"....totally waiting for the usual cute "me". And it didn't come. I figured she's just confused so I try again, and even threw in some other names...including DADDY of course...and all of which recieved the cute "me" I had been anticipating. So finally, one last desperate attempt I asked again and this time, instead of just silence I got... "no" with a nod back and forth. I asked again, "Brookie...don't you love Mommy?" to which she said "no" and just stared at me...looking fully aware of what she was saying. Nothing like tearing my heart out with a spoon (why a spoon you ask? cause it will hurt more you twit! name that movie!!!!!!!).
So, that's my thoughts tonight. And that's not even the half of it...but they really do make me laugh anyway.
Tonight I'm up baking for our teachers tomorrow (parent council takes turns once a month doing something for our teachers to show appreciation to them) and this month I'm doing cinnamon buns. Makes me think that I might just have to implement a "Mother appreciation hour" tomorrow to make up for my own childrens' innocense. I can see it now............ man I'm going to have sweet dreams tonight!!!
