Wednesday June 11 2008 - Rain, Laughter and "Freekits"
I've about got my fill of rainy weather. I'm sure it's good for the gardens and the crops and all but I do miss the sun. No pictures this post. Shocking hey! I need to buy more batteries, cause Mya was searching for some for her "cd player" (which isn't a cd player at all....it's a plastic toy with princesses on it and plays pretend discs) so we borrowed the batteries from my camera for her "CD player". Seriously, as she ran away with her newly functioning music machine, I couldn't help but think "help" as I got a little glimpse of what I'm in for years down the road. I just hope she stays content with this little cd player for now (even though it plays the same thing over and over and over again. Seriously, I'm amazed how after 1 hour of listening to the same melody over and over .... it doesn't make her go insane as well???).
So Dane is totally mobile. He's not up on all 4's crawling yet but he does the soldier crawl and he's getting FAST! I left him on the floor yesterday while we did Mya's hair before school (just a quick pony tail.... and don't worry, I was a good mom cause I've learned my lesson with the other children and I didn't just leave him on the bed....) and I go back to get him and he's no where to be found. I kid you not... I was actually searching for him as panic began to escalate. He had crawled from in front of my bed, into our walk in closet and had somehow managed to shut the door behind him. He was quick! So, nothing like losing your baby to quickly realize I'm not such a good mom after all.
Here's a conversation I heard as Ava and Mya were coloring at the table and I was making supper last night....
(Ava had already told me this joke so she was excited to try it out on Mya. It's the one where you say "Will you remember me in one minute" "Yes"..."Will you remember me in one hour" "Yes"...."Will you remember me in one week"..."Yes"....bla bla bla....and finally "Knock knock".. "Who's there" .... "What? you already forgot me?!!!!".) Ava thinks it's the funniest thing ever so I hear her say this......
Ava: Mya, I have the coolest thing to tell you ok.......Will you remember me in one minute?
Mya: Nope.
Ava: (little pause...clearly not expecting this so she had to process it for a minute). Mya do you know how long a minute is?
Mya: Yes.
Ava: Ok, then will you remember who I am in one minute.
Mya: No.
Ava: look of astonishment and then says....yes you will Mya. One minute isn't long at all. I'll whisper the answers to you and you say them ok? Will you remember me in one minute (as she leans in to tell the answer in Mya's ear).
Mya: Nope.
Ava: Mya! I'm your sister (this was my favorite!). You have to remember me in one minute! Just say yes to everything I say OK?
And through all of this I am just laughing. Mya is totally concentrating on coloring so to Ava it seems like she's not really thinking straight or paying attention and Ava was actually trying to have patience with her which was nice to see...... but I know full well that Mya was totally aware and just trying to get Ava's goat!
(so Ava proceeds through the rest of the joke and has convinced Mya to say "yes" to each answer.)
Ava: Ok...now Knock knock.....
Mya: Yes (with a little smirk on her face and eyebrows raised as if to say "You told me only to say yes!).
You really HAD to have been there. I love it when my kids make me laugh literally until my stomach hurts. I just had to record this somewhere before I forgot it. Probably not nearly as funny to anyone reading this....but trust me.... you HAD to be there!!!
Brookies funnies lately consist of her poor vocabulary skills....and quite honestly I don't do anything to aid in the matter. I love how she says "my" instead of "I" (My go to store? My love you" My want snack. My want pet gog (dog).) The other one that I LOVE and makes me laugh is how she says "secret". She'll come to you and ask to tell you a secret only she pronounces it to sound like "free-kit". So funny. "I have a freekit for you mom" "My love you". And last but not least, usually we call ichiban noodles for lunch "Daddy's noodles" cause he makes them so awesome. We just cook the noodles so they are soft and drain off all the liquid and Kendall adds his own sauces (usually soya sauce, terriaki sauce, sometimes spices and of course for Kendall hot spirachi (sp?) sauce". Anyway, for years we've called them Daddy's noodles and we all just know what we're talking about when we refer to noodles done that way. Well Brookie has started calling them "ichi noodles". Today I tried to feed her mac. and cheese and she said "no, my want ichi noodles"!!!!!
